Case study Personal project
A personal fitness and wellness tracker built around daily routine — workout rotations, trend analysis, and a mindfulness journal. Built for real use, with full auth, multiple users, and now a native iOS companion alongside the web app.
I wanted a daily habit dashboard that would actually keep me consistent — workouts, a short journal, and weight tracking — without the noise most habit apps add: no gamification, no social feed, no algorithm deciding what I should do. Just an honest record of the days I showed up.
- Built a 12-step rotating workout sequence that's position-based, not calendar-based — it always picks up where it left off regardless of how many days pass, with a later custom rotation builder so it's not just my own routine hardcoded in
- Extended it into a native iOS companion app in a second repo, sharing the exact same Supabase project, tables, and accounts as the web app — a second client, not a second system, so HealthKit weight sync and local reminders became possible without duplicating any data model
- Shipped in phases on both platforms: the web PWA first, then iOS phase 1 (login, weight, HealthKit sync, reminders) before phase 8's native Today/Log/Stats screens working toward parity with the web app
- Designed for real one-handed daily use — instant local writes with background Supabase sync, offline-capable as an installable PWA, so a bad connection never blocks logging a workout
I use this myself every day. The iOS app was the bigger lesson: keeping it a second client against the same backend instead of a rewrite meant HealthKit sync and reminders came for free, with zero data-sync work between two separate systems.
